The National Basketball Association will make many changes in 2022-2023, and some may address longstanding issues that have proven to be troubling for both fans and players alike. In the upcoming season, five new rule changes will take effect. Here are the five NBA rule changes made in the 2022-2023 season.

    1. Three-Point Line Changes

The NBA has recently decided to change the three-point line, moving it back to its original distance of 22’1″. The league has studied many factors, such as the NCAA and FIBA, and has concluded that returning the line to its original length will improve scoring in games.

In recent years, NBA teams have consistently averaged less than 100 points per game. This new rule and changes regarding point guard play in pick-and-roll situations will help the league increase its scoring numbers. The league hopes these rule changes will help it return to its glory days with scoring as high as 110-120 points per game.

    2. Offensive Fouls

Recently, offensive fouls have become a problem in the NBA. The NBA has heard complaints from fans and players alike and will change this in 2022-2023. The league has decided that players should use their arms when attacking the basket instead of using their hands.

This specific rule change will help improve the game’s offense by allowing more players to attack the basket without receiving a foul. It can only help the NBA’s scoring woes. Offensive fouls are one of the most aggravating things in all sports.

The players are simply going up for a shot when an unsportsmanlike foul is called out of nowhere, resulting in their team losing possession and the lead. The NBA is considering ways to improve the quality of play and ensure fewer mistakes. Players who commit any contact that is deemed unnecessary will be penalized with a technical foul and will be ejected from the game if it occurs again.

    3. Franchise Tags

The NBA needs to enforce a stricter standard for franchise tags. The current regulations allow teams to give a maximum of two franchise tags per player. In 2022-2023, there will be a maximum of three joins per player who can earn these awards.

In the same year, teams will also be allowed to give two franchise tags to two players. This rule change will also help with the league’s salary cap issues. The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the most successful franchises in the NBA.

During their time in the NBA, they have won a total of five championships. The Lakers are a very versatile team and have been able to compete with many teams in the league, including the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. Websites that provide all the latest Lakers rumors and news have been a trendy topic among fans.

    4. Point Guard Rules

There have been many concerns regarding point guard play in pick-and-roll situations. This upcoming season, big men defending on a pick-and-roll situation must guard the player with the ball for at least 2 seconds before being allowed to pick him up.

Players who do not follow this rule get called for a foul. The NBA is looking to improve its professional level of play in pick-and-roll situations. They want players to understand better how the pick-and-roll play works. Another concern is that many point guards are fouled during the play, risking their health.

    5. Timeouts

The NBA is making a big change in the rules regarding timeouts. The new rule states that teams will have unlimited timeouts in all regular season and playoff games. It will be effective starting with the 2022-2023 season. The NBA will address the excessive timeouts teams have taken during the game.

This rule change will allow television networks to air commercials and play more of their broadcasting time during games. It will help the league increase profits while lowering the time teams spend on the sideline.

The NBA is making major rule changes this upcoming season to increase the quality of play in the NBA. The league will implement many rule changes starting in 2022-2023. It will allow for an improvement in scoring and should improve the overall quality of play in the league.
